Frat officers sentenced in death of UT student: Plea in hazing of Houston teen leads to probation, fine, service for three.

Sep. 26--A lengthy investigation into the alcohol poisoning and hazing death of a University of Texas student from Houston ended Tuesday with three of his fraternity's former officers being fined and sentenced to probation and community service.

Benny Chan, Andrew Nguyen and Kamal Pulukuri, members of Lambda Phi Epsilon fraternity, each pleaded no contest to hazing, a Class B misdemeanor, in the December 2005 drinking death of 18-year-old Phanta "Jack" Phoummarath.
